Photographer Of The Year 2009 PPONEOB
Although I was speaking to the Professional Photographers Of Ontario Western Branch this past weekend, I did still enter 4 images to the PPO North Eastern Branch Print competition & seminar held at the Quality in last Sunday. Our branch tries to host at least 4 seminars and print competitions throughout the year with photographers from across Northern Ontario. Out of the 4 prints entered In this print competition I won 1st place & 3rd place which awarded me Photographer Of The Year 2009 for our branch for the 6th time (not in a row) since 2002.
Entering your images into print competition helps you hone your technical skills of lighting, composition, exposure, subects and story telling which you can then pass on to your clients. Here are the 2 images that received 1st & 3rd
1st Place

A Hands Best Friend
3rd place

The Big Catch

My basic lighting setup for this image
The featured speaker (which I missed) was Mike Guilbault from Barrie Ontario and I have nothing but good things from other PPO NEOB branch members.

James, every time I look at that puppy photo, I smile! I love your composition, and I love how you show how small he is in that big hand! You deserve Photographer of the Year!! Thanks for being such an inspiration and mentor!
