Thursday, May 12th, 2016

Good luck to all the Sudbury Mine Rescue Teams competing in the Ontario Mine Rescue Competition today.  Teams from Sudbury Ontario include Vale West Mines, Vale East Mines, KGHM, and Glencore Sudbury Integrated Nickel Operations.  Visit Imrc2016.ca for more information.  #imrc2016

I had the honor of photographing the Sudbury Mine Rescue District Competition that took place at the Lively Arena back in 2014.

Sudbury Ontario Photography

Wednesday, May 11th, 2016

When traveling to other Countries to photograph mining industrial operations I always try to get out and about to talk & photograph the locals trying to capture a piece of their story in a single image.

Professionally created images can bring more attention to your marketing materials. Take a look at your images, ask others, look at your competitors and see if your images are in the same “league”.  If not, then it’s time to upgrade your media library.

The Sudbury Photographer

Monday, April 18th, 2016

I recently had a discussion with a friend of mine (who’s company also used my photography services) about the photos I create for my clients in regards to return on investment.  I was pleased to know that the company  was happy with the images, but more importantly they are using the images in a variety of media to market their company.    With the amount of usage the images are getting the ROI far exceeds the initial cost of the photoshoot.

The Faces Behind diGusto | A Sudbury Restaurant

Thursday, April 14th, 2016

First I found myself at MIC and now I have made my way to  diGusto.  Having these two gentleman around me multiple times while photographing their establishments and culinary creations I finally got the opportunity to put these two brothers in front of the camera this morning for a quick snapshot.  I still think I came out with the better end of the deal as I walked away with a pizza and other goodies that I was reluctant to share with my wife.  Looking forward to photographing (and tasting) diGusto’s menu items next week.  Stay tuned.

Photography Sudbury | Mining Industrial Photographer James Hodgins

Monday, September 14th, 2015

Even though we had a language barrier and it took a few extra minutes of hand gesturing to explain I wanted to create a portrait of him,  the smile on his face after I showed him the image on the back of the camera needed no explanation.

Professional Photography Sudbury Ontario

Monday, June 15th, 2015

I don’t know how many self portraits I have of myself over my 20 years in photography but it’s a lot.  It’s not that I like taking pictures of myself (oh I do) but when working with limited time it’s always best to have everything setup before the client set’s foot in front of the camera. So I use myself as the “test subject”.   Some I like, some I don’t.  Fortunately you will only see the ones I like.   Have a great Monday.

Sudbury Photographer Takes Shameless Selfie

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2015

While on location last week James Hodgins (Mining Industrial Photographer) took a few seconds to quickly capture this Selfie while no one was looking.  When later asked “why” he took the image his reply was “To see how the Halo lights would illuminate the scene”.  Sources close to him revealed that the Sudbury based photographer will use himself as the subject for his test shots but some skeptics think he takes these selfies so that he can post shameless plugs on his Mining Industrial Website.  Either way, the lighting is flattering.

The Companies Business Portrait

Thursday, January 30th, 2014

Besides photographing and creating images underground, in the shops or out in the field I also get requests to photograph the corporate portraits for the companies as well. I try to encourage the company to get each of the portraits done at the same time to ensure that they have the same look and feel when displayed on their marketing materials. Over and over I see websites where the companies profiles are a mixture of places, backgrounds and even quality.

Ontario Underground In Sudbury

Wednesday, January 29th, 2014

While I was photographing underground for Nordex Explosives (with Signature Group) I took the opportunity to create a quick portrait of Aaron in his work uniform.

The response from the miners and industrial workers about the images I created for them is amazing, some being underground for more than 10 years and have never had a picture of them at work.

Sudbury Business Portrait

Thursday, March 7th, 2013

Here is an image I created last month for a local business client.  Sometimes getting your clients out of the office or studio but placing them still within their business environment can create a more stunning portrait.
