After the converter was fabricated and moved from Anmar the 10o+ ton titan made it’s journey to the Vale Smelter. Only a few Kilometers up the highway the 3hr trip was slow moving as power lines needed to be raised and traffic directed to ensure a safe journey.

Yesterday I got the chance to introduce Arial to the Totten Mine Site just outside of Sudbury, Ontario. It was a quick flight around the head frame to capture a few different images at different heights and angles. In the end I am very pleased with the image quality and the quick turnaround I can now give my clients that require Aerial photography on a regular basis.

In a previous post I mentioned I photographed images for Vale’s new Home Safe Program. Below is the video that was created by www.overtheatlantic.com if you have not already seen it. While we were filming I was creating stills on the fly for the marketing materials that are placed throughout the minesites. I have attached a few below.
I enjoy photographing all aspects of the industrial industry. I sometimes describe my job to others as the “How It’s Made” TV show but with photography as over the years I have photographed many products from start to finish. It’s fascinating to see something created from a raw material to finished functioning product.
If your companies photography has not been updated in the past year, or you have new products, people, or facilities that need to be showcased I might be able to help.

I had a very “quick” opportunity to photograph inside a mill at a Northern Gold Mine this past week with some great Metso employees. Due to time constraints unforeseen we had a 30 minute window to capture some images but we made the best of it and came out with some great shots. Looking forward to working with Metso again, very professional!
“Been working in this business for almost 28 yrs and had never been involved with any kind of photo shoot. You were great to work with and made the experience quite enjoyable despite the time crunch we were in.”

The love for mining/industrial photography started over 15 years ago when I was asked to photograph a knee surgery for a local marketing agency. All was good throughout the beginning until the smell of burnt bone (when they cut open the knee with a saw) hit my senses. Luckily I got enough images by that time to make a quick exit.
This shoot then led it’s way into a more industrial project where I had to photograph some trades people doing their job. The below image was my very first time photographing a welder………………..and I was hooked.

One of my favorite mining equipment to photograph, at least until I get to some sites that have bigger and more badass looking machines to peak my photography interest. I do have a few on my bucket list.

I recently received an email inquiring the use of some of my images for a companies marketing materials and within the email was a common sentence I usually see "We have done an exhaustive search of the stock photo sights and are coming up short". Read More
