Piper Pickle In Pink
Thursday, February 24th, 2011Just finished this photoshoot with Piper Pickle (aka the Niece ) at my studio as it’s been a looooong time since we have had an updated photo of her. Heavens knows that her mom wouldn’t bring in so it was up to Grandma LOL. I tried something different with this photoshoot as I only used my Lumo 160 flashes for this image. No studio strobes or fancy dancy stuff expensive lighting. Why? Just to show you that you don’t have to break the bank to create stunning images. How do I know this? Because I used to do the same thing when I first started out in photography. Learn the craft, become a master and it doesn’t matter what equipment you have, you should still be able create something beautiful.
A Moment With Ma Mere
Friday, October 8th, 2010Jennifer new exactly what she wanted when she booked us. She wanted a non posed, storytelling image of her Ma Mere and her 2 kids and that is exactly what we gave her. It was as simple as asking Ma Mere to sit on the bench (because I was going to photograph her by herself) and next thing you know Owen & Lindsey climbed up and cuddled in. I will be honest, I did put “some” thought into it, I liked how the bench was in a bit of shade, but the sun was still poking through the leaves and skimming across Ma Mere’s hair. I loved the way that the three of them starting interacting with each other immediately and you can tell that the three of them are very close. We were all having so much fun with this session (Joce was quickly losing the throwing the leaves battle with the kids) we could have kept on going for hours. Thanks again Haw family for making us part of this special time in your kids lives (and Ma Mere’s). Like we talked about today, we look forward to photographing the Haw family next year. 🙂
Have a great Turkey Weekend. 🙂
Shannon & Chris were married today.
Saturday, September 25th, 2010Well mother nature was really rollin out the punches today wasn’t she? I think the warmest we reached was 9 degrees above zero but that didn’t stop our wedding party today. Shannon & Chris braved the weather like true troopers and luckily the rain actually held out for the day. For something different the couple wanted to have photographs taken at Hurricane Acres in Azilda, the same spot we used for their engagement session. This is an amazing place to photograph especially with the fall colors starting to make their way into the leaves. We did however have to watch for horse paddies but after learning the trick on where to step it was all good. Shannon & Chris also opted to do all the photographs before the ceremony (which is becoming more and more popular) so we managed to stay dry and somewhat warm throughout the day. Thanks again Shannon & Chris (and your little dog too!!!), the two of you along with your bridal party and family made this day very warm and exciting and we Joce and I had a blast with everyone.
The beauty of B&W.
Thursday, June 3rd, 2010Well we recently finished photographing our Fathers Favorites Event for fathers day. We would like to thank all the moms out their that lied to the dads to bring their kids out to be photographed (there was some good lies too, I will post them after fathers day haha). Unfortunately I cannot post any of the photos just yet as that would ruin the surprise for the dads who’s kids we photographed, but I can show you the simple setup we used. I photographed everything in B&W (in camera) as that was how we promoted the final product. This brings all your attention to the childs face and removes some of the distracting elements that might be in the background. We photographed in open shade, a large reflector and a shoot through reflector to minimize shadows and smooth out the lighting. You REALLY do not get much better than this as demonstrated by my beautiful wife Jocelyne.
Focus Reinactment (Hodgy Humour)
Friday, April 9th, 2010Sitting in the Calgary airport waiting to catch our flight to Saskatoon for our workshop. It was an eventfull day (usually is when Abbas is driving…………FOCUS!). Learned that Starbucks employees don’t speak English, only the Starbucks language and that to order a coffee flavoured coffee is…………………….rude. Oh well. Here are some group shots for you and another video of the window escapade.

Vegas Inspired Pin-up Perfection
Friday, March 12th, 2010Well I just got back from WPPI Vegas and it was a blast. We networked, we played, and we got inspired. I will have more on Vegas on Monday when I work the images and get the stories straight as some of them I can’t remember hahaha. I did however want to get right back into my Sudbury Pinup Perfection so I can hone my skills further. The below image was shot last week, but the background was inspired from a walk in the malls in Vegas. We checkout some pretty cool stores that had even more interesting signage. Stay tuned for more Sudbury Pinup Perfection.
Pin-Up Perfection Day Coming March 27
Saturday, March 6th, 2010That’s right, you heard it here first. We are officially announcing our Sudbury Pin-Up Perfection Day Saturday March 27th at our studio. I will post all the juicy details about this spectacular event when I get back from WPPI Vegas next week. Until then, start thinking of your Pin-Up Perfection scenario and dig deep into your wardrobe for those forgotten outfits.
Just a heads up. There will only be 15 sessions available and it will be first come first serve. We have already had numerous emails and calls to book our sessions, but to be fair we asked them to wait until our Pin-up Day. So, with that said I would call and book your appointment as soon as I announce the Sudbury Pin-Up Perfection Day Details.
