Fall Family Portraits Are Here

Wednesday, September 14th, 2011

We just finished creating some great family portraits for the Burton family at a great location near Val Caron.  The leaves have already started to turn (more have even dropped) fast and the window for great fall color family portraits is going to be a very very narrow one.  We have noticed the increase colors throughout the whole week while on family portrait sessions and tonight was no exception. Paul, Liz, Jack, Emma and Oliver were perfectly dressed for their outdoor family portraits and the white tops just complimented the colors of the background.   We love it when a family unit works well together, especially for portraits and the Burtons were on the ball…………even Oliver the best posed dog ever (you will see in future posts).

It’s Family Portrait Month

Tuesday, September 13th, 2011

Wow, this summer has been filled with outdoor family portraits, but I think we will top the summer numbers with this month alone.  It’s that time of year again as the kids start school that the family portrait season get’s kicked into high gear.  The low amount of rain this summer and the cooler days have already started turning the leaves into the fall colors.  If you are thinking that October is going to be the month for Fall Family Photos, you will be surprisingly mistaken.  If you are thinking of having a family portrait session with us, I would look into booking now, as we are very rapidly filling up our days.

With my previous post, we were using the Munro family for some commercial images and we had another session with them last night.  Just for a few minutes we setup this family portrait for them as a “Thank You” for taking the time and helping my clients out.

You just gotta love it when a family pulls together and shows up on time, with all the family members, and all color coordinated.  It just warms my heart.  Originally scheduled for Bell Park due to it’s easy wheel-chair accessibility we had to make a last minute location change (due to Dragon Boat Practice) and luckily Joce and I found this great spot by Laurentian Univeristy.  Rocks, grass trees, even some shaded lighting in early evening made this location a great choice, especially because both Grams had easy access.  Baby Reese was constantly looking at the camera as Jocelyne was jumping up and down making noises and faces behind me to get the adults attention (just kidding, it was really for baby Reese).  We love photographing our outdoor family sessions and when you get families like this you just can’t go wrong.  Thanks again everyone, Joce  and I had FUN!

Sudbury Family Portrait “With Dog”

Tuesday, October 5th, 2010

Sharon booked months and months ago to photograph her fall family portrait with herself, her daughter Meaghan and their rambunctious dog “Chester”.  We headed out just behind their house in the long lake area to find some beautiful fall colors and unique locations to showcase these to beautiful women……………….and Chester.  Let me state right now that Chester can jump higher than other dog I have seen jump before and note to self:  when photographing Chester for Dog Day this January don’t hold a stick in hand while pointing to the ground with the other hand saying “sit” “sit” “sit”.  Chester sureeeeeeeeeeeeeeee loves the stick.

After we completed a few different scenarios Jocelyne came up with this shot and I must say she executed the concept, location, and dog distracting technique wonderfully. 🙂  Thanks again Sharon & Meaghan for allowing us to capture the beautiful portrait of the three of you.

Back In The Studio || Sudbury Family Portrait

Here is a quick one from one of today’s family sessions.  For those of you who have been following my photography for a few years you might recognize the little girl on the right (our right).  Sarah was the first “When I Was Young” participant we started years back.  I spent the day following her around, playing, drawing, going outside, swinging at the park and so on.

We couldn’t believe how big she has gotten since the last time we photographed the Romanko Family.  Thanks again everyone for taking the time and letting us create yet another Family Portrait.

See you all Monday as we are taking the weekend off.

We love our repeat clients.

Lindsay, Rob, Drew &  Lauren just finished their 2009 family portrait.  We started off photographing Rob & Lindsay’s wedding, then we photographed their new addition to the to family with a family portrait and now again with this one.  We are starting to see more and more of our wedding clients coming in for maternity, baby and family portraits.  Does this mean we are getting old?  It’s great to see the cycle of life via our clients.  Thanks again Gamel family.

Portrait Clothing Options

Here is a recent family portrait we created.  I love shooting low-key (darker tones) in the studio as it tends to bring the viewers attention to the subjects faces.  Black tops with a dark background is a good example of this, it’s very simple, but very elegant as well.  If your not sure what to wear for your portraits, here is some simple guidlines to follow  Portrait Clothing Tips
