When the Caribbean Freezes Over
That is pretty well what it feels like today. COLD!! Who would have thought that we would be wearing long pants, shirts and a jacket in the caribbean? It was too cold to sit on the beach, and to boring to sit inside, so we headed into town to taste some local cuisine. Not the high falooten fancy smanch restaurants, but the good o’l ma and pa shops. Of course on the way there we broke out our Canon G11’s and continued on with our crapshoots.

Looking for crabs.

Found one.

Our new dream shack.

What's left of the previous owner.....sharks.

Hangin around on the beach.

Caught this little guy on the pier.

you gotta love those Canon G11 Point and Shoot camera’s. This is the only camera I need when I travel.

All images were taken with this camera.

James,
U r fleeking amazing dude. I am so glad I have joined NoBS, as I aspire to shoot like you do. I would love to know how you manage to pull off such surreal images, like the dog and the grab shot, okay all of them just from your G11. I was pretty sure I wanted to get the G11 as a travel companion, but these images sell it to me. Any tips as to how you got the dog to look so surreal, no flash, one or two , off camera? High power flash, small aperture? Got me stumped!! You are a genius, and I get super inspired just in simple crap shoots. Love you post processing on them, any tips, just to the software used to create these, simple or complex? Love it, blown away that you can do that in ‘just’ travel photos.haha

Hey Craig, I had a small flash to camera left of the dog. Used a pocket wizard on the camera. Had the flash output one stop more power than the sun and then exposed for the flash. Some saturation boost in PS and voila. Get the G11, you will not be dissapointed.
Cheers

High speed sync?

Thanks James,
On the Canon SLR’s there is 1st curtain flash, 2nd curtain flash, or high speed synch where it sort of averages the output over the shutter time I think instead of a quicker burst. Really enjoying getting the dramatic effects from off camera shooting. Sweet stuff. Enjoying your posts.
