Good Camera Still Equals Crappy Photos

Tuesday, May 1st, 2012

Was at another real estate shoot today and thought I would compare a photo with an expensive camera in snapshot mode to a photo that has some professional lighting.  Mounted camera with photos taken 5 seconds apart.
I guess having an expensive camera isn’t everything. 🙂

More Maternity From A Sudbury Studio

Monday, March 1st, 2010

Here are a few more images from a recent maternity.  This is a very delicate time in a woman’s life and the key to capturing beautiful maternity images is trust.  Your client HAS to feel comfortable.  Not only in front of the camera, but in front of you as well.  Joce and I have made this a huge priority in our studio, to take the time to get to know our clients, figure out exactly what they want as far as final images and product, and learn how they react to being in front of the camera.  I love photographing this stage in a woman’s life.  It is so elegant, beautiful, and rewarding (when you see the expressions on their faces when you show them the images).  For you expecting mothers out there, don’t be afraid to call our studio and talk to Joce about our maternity sessions.  We have a huge variety of products that you might not have thought about that can be beautifully displayed in your home.  The second image below will be a 30 inch wall canvas in our studio. 🙂

Cat Day At The Studio

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

Actually it wasn’t a “day” at all,  more like Cat 2 minutes and 7 seconds.  Joce and I decided to brave the odds and get our two furballs into the studio and update their portrait.  The last time I did this was about 8 years ago and we figured since the one cat “Bogen” is getting up there in age, we might as well do it now before it’s too late.  What a pure joy it was to get these two to sit still for the camera.  Purring & talking, scratching and hissing.  Oh the wonderful joys of photographing felines.  I so look forward to when we officially launch “Cat Day” at the studio.  FYI – Cat Day will be held at James Hodgins Photography when hell freezes over and turns into one giant litter box.

Out of the dozen or so images I snapped we did manage to get two that pretty well portrays our kitties.  They will now be memorialized with 30 inch vertical canvas prints in our home.  We are really glad we managed to get this done, as it will make us  appreciate the time we still have with them both, as their lives almost came to a sudden end earlier today. 🙂

I thought I would post some videos today.  The first 2 are from the Clem Chronicals titled “The End Of The Clem Chronicals”  For those of you who know Clem, you will understand.  We get photographers from all over North and South America that come to assist us on our weddings.  You have to be good, you have to be quick, and you have to be  funny.  See my post below with the beginning Clem saga.

Here is one of our very first welcome videos Rob and I did for NoBs. This was around 2002.
